# How do I unassign a team to a channel?

This article explains how to **remove a team assignment from a communication channel**. Follow these steps to disconnect a group from receiving specific channel messages. This stops automatic routing for that chat channel.

### In this article, you will learn how to

- **Remove a team assignment from a messaging channel**.
- Stop incoming conversation routing for a specific group.
- Resolve interface update errors on the channels dashboard.

## Before you start

Before unassigning a team to a channel, make sure you have:
- A **connected messaging channel** in your workspace with **assigned team**.

## How to unassign a team to a channel

1. Log in to your Flownally workspace.
2. Go to the **Channels** tab.
3. Click the channel you want to assign a team to.
4. Click on the **Unassign** icon.

## What happens after unassigning a team to a channel?

After unassigning a team to a channel, new incoming conversations will stop routing to that specific group. The messages will appear in the general unassigned workspace inbox instead, and any available team member can manage them.

## Troubleshooting

### Unassign icon is missing

The unassign button does not appear on the channel page. This can happen when no team is currently linked to this channel. In that situation you don't need to take any action since the channel is already unassigned.

### Team stays assigned

The team name remains visible after you click unassign. Sometimes a temporary dashboard cache delay might casue that. To fix this you must reload your browser tab to see the updated channel status.
