How do I send an SMS?
This article helps you send text messages from your Twilio number to your customers from Flownally. It guides you through replying in an active Twilio chat and texting a contact who doesn't have a chat yet.

- Send an SMS from an active Twilio chat.
- Send an SMS to a contact from the Contacts tab.
Before you start
Before sending an SMS, make sure you have:
- Connected at least one number on the Twilio channel.
- Have an active Flownally subscription.
How to send an SMS
- Log in to your Flownally workspace.
- Go to the Inbox tab.
- You have two options on how to send an SMS:
- From an active Twilio chat:
- Type a message.
- Click on Send to send the message.
- From an active Twilio chat:
- To a contact without an active chat:
- Go to the Contacts tab and select the contact.
- Click on the Send SMS button in the contact panel on the right.
- Type a message.
- Click on Send SMS to send the message.
Important: The Send SMS button appears for contacts with a phone number. When your workspace also has a WhatsApp number connected, the contact panel shows Send template instead, so start the SMS chat from an active Twilio conversation.
- The message will appear in the chat.
What happens after sending an SMS?
After sending an SMS, the message appears directly in the chat history. The customer receives your text message on their mobile device. You can track the entire conversation and see their replies in your shared inbox.
Troubleshooting
Message fails to send
This can occur due to a temporary network connection drop between systems. Check your internet connection and refresh your browser page to try sending the message again.
I don't see the Send SMS button
The button appears only for contacts with a phone number, in workspaces with a connected Twilio number. If your workspace also has a WhatsApp number, the contact panel offers Send template instead.
