This article explains how to create a service account for API access. Follow these steps to establish credentials for external programmatic integrations. This allows secure data communication between systems.

Before you start
Before creating a service account, make sure you have admin access to your Flownally workspace.
Important: The secret token is only displayed once during creation. Copy and store it securely right away because you cannot view it again later.
How to create a service account
- Log in to your Flownally workspace.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Go to the API access section.
- Click on the Create service account button in the top-right corner.
- Provide a Name for the new service account.
- Optionally add a Description to the new service account.
- Click on the Create service account button.
- The first API key for the service account is created automatically and shown in the API key created prompt:
- Click the copy icon next to the key and store it in a secure location.
- Click Done to close the prompt.
What happens after creating a service account?
After creating a service account, it appears in your API access list with the Active status, and its details open with the new key listed under Keys. You can use this key to authenticate external software tools with your Flownally account.
Troubleshooting
Create service account button is unresponsive
This is caused by a temporary browser interface lag. You need to refresh your tab and try the submission again.
Token is hidden
This happens because you closed the initial confirmation screen too quickly. You must revoke the key and create a new one, or completely remove the service account and create a new one.
